Multichannel direction finding system - combines receiver outputs in groups in radio beam networks and selects network with highest output signal for operation
The multi-channel direction finding system has an antenna system consisting of N individual antennas or groups, directional or non-directional, mounted with equal spacing on a circle or an arc. They are connected through a preamplifier with a power divider each to an evaluation circuit with several h.f. networks for different direction radio beams generation. Each h.f. directional beam network adds output voltages from M (M smaller than N) different power dividers, and an h.f. distributor connects outputs of individual h.f. networks to the inputs of a certain number of receivers. The evaluation circuit detects the engaged frequency channels. Each power divider (31-3N) is connected to a single channel d.f. receiver (81-8N).
