Title cpds. with trivalent rare earths (pref. cerium or praesodymium) and zinc are prepd. by converting the amide nitrogen of aspartic acid (pref. 1-aspartic acid) into an ammonium salt (inner salt), reacting with a double salt of a trivalent rare earth and of zinc using sodium peroxide as catalyst, pptng. the complex with sodium hydroxide, and crystallising the product with 77% alcohol. They also potentiate the blood and urine sugar lowering effect of trioxyflavone/trivalent rare earth metal complexes.
