The system is designed to reflect an electromagnetic wave pulse. It has means of generating a pulse beam (2) of relativistic electrons. This beam (2) presents a front (3), before displacement, at a speed not far from the speed of light. The reflection zone for the electromagnetic wave pulse is situated near to this front. The system synchronises the prod. of the beam of electrons with that of the electromagnetic wave pulse. The system uses a cylindrical waveguide (4). The beam of electrons prod. has inside the waveguide a direction parallel to the generatrices of the cylinder forming the waveguide. The form and dimensions of the guide (4) are such that its cutoff frequency is less than the frequency of the electromagnetic wave in the absence of the beam. This cutoff frequency is greater than the wave frequency in the part of the guide where the beam of electrons (2) is.
