A textured, continuous filament yarn is formed from at least one endless filament to which staple fibres are bonded. To give a fibrous appearance, the staple fibres may be attached in arbitrary orientation to the filament(s), but, if it is desired to give the yarn its fibrous appearance after weaving or knitting and finishing, the staple fibres are bonded parallel to the length of the filament(s). Alongside the continuous filament(s) and the staple fibres, a third component may be present, to take care of the bonding. The yarn is relatively cheap to produce, and there is no need for special texturing machines.
