Equipment for breakdown vehicle towing is intended to prevent damage and wear caused by the towing vehicle changing direction. A triangular support jib is pivoted about on axis on the vehicle, but is free to slide along this axis because the ends of the triangle arms have been moved inwards. The towing hook is mounted on a chain passing through a pivoting mounting at the outboard end of the triangle. The hook is fixed to a cylindrical block with a conical top section. This block fits into a location of the same shape inside the pivoting mounting. The adjustment of the height of the triangle is by means of a telescopic element with holes and a locking pin.
