The installation consists of a frame structure with the conveyor assembly on top. The conveyor belt travels over a roller (22), which is driven by electric motor (28) via gear mechanism (29). The other roller (24) is an idle roller fitted with tensioning mechanism (26). The leftovers containing a mixture of food, paper and other non-magnetic parts, as well as the possible cutlery item, are fed onto the belt via hopper (17). The belt has lateral shunt rails (42) of soft steel. The roller (22) is designed as a permanent magnet (32) with pole elements (34). The installation is also fitted with a set of inductor rails (40) made of steel fitted parallel to the conveyor belt. During the travel of any shunt rail over the inductor rail a short circuiting of the magnetic field takes place and the metal item clinging to the belt is released and drops into container (16).
