Baled bagasse is prepared for manufacturing purposes on a prodn. line in which the final disintegration by hammer mill, and the sepn. of the fibre particles into fractions of different size, takes place after a series of disintegration stages outside the mill, by sieving and winnowing, etc. The whole operation is simplified and fewer machines are necessary. The cost of regulating the system is reduced and the output of the mills in particular is increased. The main disadvantage of known systems that in the pith removing and disintegrating machine the bagasse is beaten against the screens which hold back all the fibres whether fine, medium or coarse is overcome. The plant can be supervised by one man.
