The box building system is suitable for the creation of variable scenery and recreational frame structures, esp. as used for school or amateur theatrical productions, where full theatre apparatus is too costly and elaborate. The upright and horizontal basic elements (1, 2) are flat or frame-shaped. The upright ones are pref. non-demountable frames, made of metal shaped-section units, with two vertical posts (3) joined by two or more horizontal cross bars (4). The horizontal ones are flat platform boxes, with apertures underneath for the vertical elements; they may incorporate a horizontal frame case, and top holes (14) for plugs protruding from the bottom of the vertical elements.
