The foundation for a structure on the sea bottom, such as an offshore drilling platform is rapidly and economically installed and its construction process is not affected by rough seas and weather. The granular foundation material, especially sand and gravel is excavated from the sea bottom by excavators (57). This material, excavated in the vicinity of the intended structure site, is subsequently transported to the foundation position by tubes (55). The granular material is sorted before reaching the site. The structure support is not lowered until the foundation material and its covering ballast have been deposited. The last ballast layer is secured with a bonding material.
