A switching circuit provides a saw tooth waveform signal in an inductance for the line scan control of a television cathode ray tube. The inductance (1) is supplied alternatively from the positive pole (+V) and earth by two relays (2, 3) operated in a mutually exclusive switching mode from a gating circuit (4) triggered by a square wave input. The inductance is coupled over a common point (A) with two capacitors, one of 7 microfarads (5) and one of 1 microfarad. The sizing of the capacitors provides the ratio of rise to fall time of the saw tooth wave form, between square wave input signals (in this case 1:7). A slow time scan period is therefore generated followed by a fast return period.
