The brakes operate by coupling a wheel driven pump to the brake line, to enhance the brake pressure when the brake pedal is pressed. In conventional pumped systems when the servo effect is only lifted when the wheel has slowed sufficiently. In order to provide a responsive anti-blocking control an inertial mass monitors the vehicle retardation. - If the retardation drops below a set value, w.r.t. brake pressure, then the mass moves to shunt the output of the pump and progressively lift the serve action. The wheel speed does not need to alter significantly to initiate the anti-blocking control.
