The cast-in electrical socket, has a pair of entry apertures (6) for the plug pins, and containing the socket contacts (8) which have connecting lugs (9) which project through the common base (11) of the two socket apertures. The unit cannot be taken apart after casting, so that there is no access to the live parts. Safety is also increased by the completely shielded location of the live parts within the body, so that danger from water spillage is reduced, and the metal parts are protected from damage or corrosion.
