1414360 Articulated vehicles T E MEDALEN 9 Oct 1973 47166/73 Heading B7H A vehicle, particularly for driving agricultural or like implements, includes pivotally interconnected sections 1, 2, an engine 6 on one section 1 drivingly connected via a vertical shaft 3 coinciding with the pivot axis to a wheel 5 on the other section, and a continuously variable gear between the shaft 3 and wheel 5. Shaft 3 is rotatably mounted within a tube 14 defining the pivot axis and carries at each end a pulley 13 and a friction disc 32. Pulley 13 is driven via belt 10 trained about a pulley 8 on the engine output shaft 7, and disc 32 is biased upwardly by a spring 33 into contact with a vertical disc 20 rotatably fixed to a shaft 19. Disc 20 is axially movable along shaft 19 by means of a lever 21 to vary the speed and direction of rotation of the shaft 19 which is connected via output gears 27, 28 and a drive belt to the wheel 5. Disc 32 may be moved against the action of spring 33 by lever 25 to disconnect the drive. The vehicle is steered through meshing gear-wheels 18, 19SP1/SP fitted on respective sections. The auxiliary implement is mounted on section 1 and is driven via a belt 11 trained about a pulley on the engine output shaft.
