Wedge-bolt joint between metal beam and column - has wedge washer in beam and anchor block in column groove with former bearing on beam flange notch
The wedge-bolt connection between horizontal (5) and vertical (3) members of a metal frame, uses two friction gripping threaded bolt anchor blocks which slide in partially closed longitudinal grooves in the respective members, with a horizontal member flange (6) projection (8) forming a stop for the corresponding nut anchor (14) and creating a precompression across the member interface. The primary anchor block (1) is of 'H' section of which one leg fits in a 'T' section column face groove (2). The secondary block (4) is rectangular shape and fits entirely within the slotted rectangular hollow beam section. The bolt (11) transverses both blocks causing them converge and bear on the confining groove (2) faces and the flange projections (8) resp.
