Easily fibrillated fibres - from viscose of low alpha-cellulose and sodium hydroxide content, by spinning in acid bath, drawing in air or acid bath and regeneration
Regenerated cellulose fibres with a high capacity for fibrillation are prepd. by (1) spinning viscose with 6.5% alpha-cellulose, 4% NaOH, gamma index 35 and viscosity is not 65 at 15 degrees C, in a first bath contg. is not 60 g./1. H2SO4, is not 80 g.-1. Na2SO4 and is not 10g./1. ZnSO4, at 45 degrees C to give fibres, (2) drawing the fibres by is not 100% in air after leaving the first bath, and/or in a second bath contg. is not 60 G./1. H2SO4, is not 80 g./1. Na2SO4 and is not 10 G./1. ZnSO4 at 70-100 degrees C, (3) leading the fibres through a regeneration bath, and (4) washing, desulphurising, cutting and drying. The fibres are suitable for making paper of high quality.
