A typical embodiment of the processing circuitry for data series responds to demands coded in numerical form and delivered as Boolean algebra formulae. Simply expressed, the expression on the left side of such a formula corresponds to a condition enquiry for the machine tool for which the processing circuitry is employed. Every numerical term represents e.g. a special function of the machine tool. The condition of each function is identified by one of two alternatives, e.g. on or off, yes or no. Reading from left to right a cumulative, complete real condition can be reproduced. For this purpose a store of the "last input = first output" type is used. Conventional mathematical symbols are used such as +, brackets and so on, yet can be given different meanings, e.g. + meaning "or" instead of "add".
