The foot controls of the vehicle are fitted with a left pedal (23) for steering, with a cam linkage (24) to the steering column. The right foot operates the accelerator pedal (i) and the automatic gear selector slider (4). In order to provide hill starting control, when the right foot is on the accelerator (i) rather than on the brake pedal (2), the steering pedal is linked to a brake control (28) which is operated by moving the pedal in a different way from that required for steering. This replaces the breast operated brake (20), which is not always easy to operate, especially with safety belts fitted.
