A strip type waveguide for wavelength of millimetres and less which can be made easily from resilient or solid dielectric material without manufacturing tolerance difficulties, has a cross section which has a major and a minor axis, and which can be oval, with a triangular segment cut into one face of larger radius, on the minor axis. An alternative design is rectangular, with a rectangular cut-out in one large side, on the minor axis. Another design is approximately dumb bell shaped. The dielectric may be high or low value, and may be of semiconductor material. Oscillator or mixer diodes may be incorporated in the reduced section material.
