An arrangement for making a seal between two sections in a worm extruder barrel, each section of which consists of two concentric cylinders, with temp. control channels formed between them, comprises a spacer ring, corresp. in dimensions to those of the inner cylinders, and having on its end faces, against which the outer and inner cylinders are bolted, seals. A circumferential groove on the spacer ring is enclosed by a welded plate with connections to the tempering medium circuit. Provides a seal able to react quickly to rapid changes in temp. Does not interrupt the flow of the tempering medium along the barrel.
