The electronic circuit is for driving a defined current in a defined pulse shape, into an electric fence, so that the peak amplitude and duration of the impulses are limited. The current pulse best suited to this consists of a very sharply increasing and decreasing pulse lasting about 1ms followed by a lower, decaying waveform over a longer period. This is applied to the fence at 1 Hz by means of a circuit incorporating two discharge capacitances (C1, C2) and a transformer (Tr). The capacitances are charged from the mains via a rectifier bridge (Br) and discharged by a thyristor (TR) which s fired once every second. The capacitance discharges through the transformer to produce the sharp initial surge whilst the second discharges directly through a diode (D5) into the fence to produce the long decaying tail of the waveform.
