A plastic gear wheel, located on a shaft (2) is axially clamped between a shaft shoulder (5) and a lock nut (4). To prevent the plastic gear wheel from deforming under the clamping pressure, stiffening elements (6, 7) are provided. They are metal pins (6) or bushes (7) which have the length equal to the wheel thickness, and which are embedded in the clamping zone around the location bore. The gear can then be clamped to the shaft hub by screws or bolts threaded into the hub and passing through the gear adjacent to the stiffening elements.
