The bunker is for handling beet delivered by tip lorries, loading shovels etc. there being a trough through which water flows below the bunker outlet and by which the beet is transported away. The beet is directed into the trough by a movable part (8, 9) of the bunker floor (4), so that both the size of the bunker outlet (12) and its position in relation to the trough inlet (13) are adjustable. The bunker can extend in the lengthwise direction of the trough, being loadable from three sides, while the movable portion of the floor runs for its entire length. The floor can comprise two leaves hinging on axes parallel to the trough, and actuated by hydraulic rams (16, 17).
