A jump-off plate has an upward-pointing face which forms the jump-off surface. The jump-off plate is supported movably in a vertical direction with a given play. A spring holds the jump-off plate in the upper end position as long as it is unloaded. The play of the jump-off plate can be limited by two stops, at least one of which is adjustable. The jump-off plate can be pivotably mounted by means of an assembly part made of flexible material, especially rubber or plastic. An electrical contact responds to the relative movement between jump-off plate and the rest of the starting block.
