The device is for rapid connection of an electrical supply cable to a fitting mounted on a support. It consists of a movable clamping element with a hole (34) for the passage of the stripped end (18) of the electrical cable (20). The clamping element can be adjusted to an end position on the support, so that the stripped end will be brought into contact with the conducting element of the appliance. In the end position, the clamping element will be subjected to a specific force. It has a projection (30) at the end which can be bent and operates in conjunction with the support for releasing the cable. The external end of the clamping element is turned through a right angle and used as an operating handle.
