摘要

Heavy metal chelates of formula (I): (where R = alkali (ne earth) ion; X = H, or alkali(ne earth) ion; and M = di- or tri-valent heavy metal ion at 0.5-1g atom per mole complex former) are prepd by reacting a 1-5C aliphatic aminoacid with 2 moles HCHO and 2 moles of a phenolic cpd. p-substd. by RSO3 to give an N,N-bis (2-HCHO and 2 moles of a phenolic cpd. p-substd. by RSO3 to give an N,N-bis(2-hydroxy-5-metal oxysulphonylbenzyl) aminoacid which is reacted, pref. in aq. medium, with 1 equiv. of a heavy metal salt or hydroxide. (I) are used to treat trace element, esp. Fe, deficiencies in plants and as fertiliser components, and as (I) are prepd. free from inorg. salt impurities, are suitable for spray application and are stable to acids and bases so may be used on alkaline soils.
