The safety ski boot fixture as is used for downhill skiing has an additional support fixed to the top face of the ski. It is placed in front of the toe attachment point and is used to provide a one point boot location for cross country and uphill ski walking. About half way between toe and heel, a slotted plate with a cross hole is attached to the ski boot. It provides the location for the support such that the boot is able to rock about 20 deg. On the heel the boot movement is restricted by the safety fixture on the toe by the top face of the ski.
