The blending system is connected by at least a supply line with the circuit for supplying the printing rollers. A pre-settable metering unit ensures that properly metered quantities of the individual ink components can be fed to the blending system. The metering unit incorporates a desired set point control whose selected value is compared with the measured values of components flowing into the blending system after the shuft-off valves have been opened in the lines. Should there be significant disparity between the two values then the valve settings can be adjusted accordingly. The system facilitates the re-use of ink blend residues.
