The unit is intended for the reduction of pressure peaks in the supply mains of hydraulic systems, using a balance piston which moves in a housing against a storage pressure. The piston surface charged by the pressure medium to be controlled is connected via a piston rod, to a piston section. This section is guided in a bore of the housing, and under the stroke of the balance piston it enters into a recess, widening the bore for a free pressure medium flow. The pressure chamber formed by the piston face and the housing wall and the pressure chamber formed by the recess of the housing bore, are separated from each other, and connected singly via conduits to the supply mains.
