The analyser has a main memory with an intermediate memory connected on the input side which stores the amplitude values if a large number of input pulses during one main memory cycle and transmits these values to the main memory. The amplitude values are determined by a classifier. The intermediate memory is preferably a shift register forming part of the classifier with a bit capacity equal to the number of amplitude classes. The power consumption is increased only very slightly and is considerably lower than for analysers with the same dead time having no intermediate memory.
