A catheter slides in a first large hollow needle, and has a length of tube with first and second end areas and diameter less than the passage in the needle. A thin needle section at the first end area has a passage in it and, at a distance, a point piercing the tissue wall. The passage in the needle communicates with the length of catheter tube. An oblong stiletto longer than the length of tube, has one of its ends inside the latter and the other outside, and slides coaxially in the tube, being smaller than the passage in the needle section. Means are provided on the stiletto end inside the tube and the thin needle section to enable tube and thin needle to be thrust forward in relation to the large needle after this has been used, in order to insert the thin needle to a predetermined depth during a second stage of penetration. After this the stiletto is removed and material can be injected through the tube and thin needle.
