The application of this modifying circuit is to d.c. output current regulators on thyristor conveters or similar rectifiers feeding resistive-inductive loads in which the current can become discontinuous at certain loads. The circuit contains a regulator unit with control and reference inputs and a detector unit fed with the control signal which it checks for discontinuity. If this condition is detected the circuit switches the electronic switch which changes the regulator mode from proportional integral operation to integral operation. The proposed method contains few circuit elements and can be economically provided even on small d.c. output current regulators.
