The combined piston arrangement is used for increasing the pressure on the working piston and for reducing the overall height of the press. The working piston is stationary and the working cylinder actuates the table carrying the lower half of the die. The hollow piston in the cylinder has a central bore with the stepped piston. The lower part of this piston is held in the hollow chamber within the working piston. The liquid supply channels are accommodated within the hollow piston cover plate. The smaller piston has at its base a larger diameter piston. The pressure is increased for lifting the cylinder by supplying liquid to the chamber at the top of the central piston. This pressure initiates the starting movement of the press. The piston is actuated in the end phase of the pressing process. The piston moves into the chamber and increases the pressure there by three to four times.
