The container, e.g. a vase or salt holder, consists of a vertical support behind a glass bowl which is open at the top and made by blowing, using a compressed-air pipe. A hook can be provided on the support, e.g. for holding flowers, and the ornament can be provided with a hole for hanging it on the wall and/or the vertical member can be thickened at the base to form a foot.
