The seismic shock generator uses compressed air with an air reservoir closed by a piston at one of its end together with an auxiliary chamber arranged to release the compressed air charge without the generation of secondary shocks due to the release of secondary air bubbles. The shock outlet aperture of the main chamber may be fitted with an ejector mechanism having a large ratio of circumference to length to generate a sharply limited shock.
