Gas burner has mouth piece for supplying a gaseous oxidant, for instance air, and a distributor pipe for combustible gas along the heart line of the mouth piece, with central and transverse openings on each side of the area of the outlet of the mouth piece. Specifically, the total area of the openings for letting through the gas on the side of the distributing pipe before the end of the mouth piece in the direction of the oxidising agent is 2-5%, behind the area of the mouth piece 1-2 1/2% and through the middle of the distributing pipe 0.-0.5% of the annular surface of the mouth piece at its outlet.
