1451539 Soil stabilization E I JANELID and C O O MORFELDT 10 July 1974 [6 Aug 1973] 30497/74 Heading E1F [Also in Division F4] In the forming in rock of a reservoir 1 for storing of a medium whose temperature is below the natural temperature of the rock, the rock is impregnated with fluid sealing agent which in an inner sealing zone 14 solidifies on encountering rock or medium at a temperature at or below the freezing point of the sealing agent but which in an outer zone 20 remains fluid so as to solidify and form a local sealing area 16 in the event of medium penetration through the inner zone. The rock around the planned reservoir may be cooled and sealed before the reservoir is blasted out. Prior to cooling and sealing the rock about the planned reservoir there may be first injected into the rock a substance which is liquid at the temperature of the medium and which will displace subsoil water in the rock. After the subsoil water has been displaced the sealing agent is injected into the rock.
