1347853 Tricyclohexylidenetriperoxide and dicyclohexylidene diperoxide STORY CHEMICAL CORP 28 June 1971 [29 June 1970] 30192/71 Heading C2C Tricyclohexylidene triperoxide is obtained by treating 1-hydroperoxy- 1SP1/SP-hydroxydicyclohexyl peroxide or 1,1SP1/SP-dihydroperoxydicyclohexyl peroxide with a liquid carboxylic acid and a strong acid catalyst. Alternatively a mixture of tricyclohexylidene triperoxide and dicyclohexylidene diperoxide is obtained by treating the above mentioned starting materials with a strong acid catalyst in the presence of an organic solvent. Suitable strong acids are, for example, hydrochloric acid, sulphuric acid, perchloric acid, p-toluene sulphonic acid, nitric acid and sulphuric acid. Suitable carboxylic acids are, for example, formic acid, propionic acid, acetic acid and butyric acid. Suitable organic solvents are, for example, pentane, hexane, benzene, toluene, xylene, ether, carbon tetrachloride, chloroform, cyclohexane, heptane, decane, cyclodecane, nonane, undecane, dodecane and acetonitrile.
