摘要
Seamless drawn tubing continuously annealed and coated with a thermoplastic material for heat and sound insulation, esp. copper pipe coated with polyvinyl chloride. The advantage is that the tube or conduit can be supplied in coiled lengths of about 25 m which are easily laid and bent. The process starts with coils of drawn copper tube, 200-350 m long which are placed on a coil-holder and (a) pulled through straightening rolls by (b) a drawing device followed by (c) annealing in a tubular furnace in a protective atmos., heat being supplied by resistance-heating through two pairs of conducting rollers, one pair at each end of the insulated furnace, (d) a second set of insulating rolls, (e) an extruder which provides the heat-insulating PVC coating, (f) a cooling channel in which the PVC is cured and (g) a second pulling device. The end of the next coil can be mechanically fixed to the end of the first coil so that the process runs continously. The PVC tube contains internal ribs tapering towards the surface of the copper tube and which are closely packed so that they form arched cavities in the insulation.
