1294875 Preventing erosion HENKEL & CIE GmbH 12 Sept 1969 [13 Sept 1968] 45026/69 Heading A1E [Also in Division C1] A process for covering sand dunes with vegetation comprises planting seeds of an annual plant e.g. a legume, in clusters, and treating with a colloid aiding growth and consolidating the soil. Seeds of grasses and clovers may be sown with the annual seeds. The colloid may be an alkali-metal silicate and/or silica gel with a pH in the range 3.5 to 8. The colloid may be stabilized by additives e.g. gelatine, polyacrylates &c. Nutrients e.g. phosphates, nitrogen and potassium salts together with colloidal substances e.g. bentonite, peat, and sewage sludge may also be added.
