1407620 Epoxy resin composition WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORP 23 Oct 1972 [16 Nov 1971] 48683/72 Heading C3B [Also in Division B5] A composition useful in the impregnation of fabrics, e.g. glass, prior to lamination comprises: (I) a liquid epoxy resin and a mixture of (II) methylbicyclo[2,2,1]heptene - 2,3 - dicarboxylic anhydride and (III) benzophenone-tetracarboxylic dianhydride, sufficient II being present to dissolve III. The equivalent ratio of II : III may be 0À9-2À0 : 1 and from 0À60-0À95 total anhydride equivalents may be present for each epoxy equivalent. The composition may additionally contain a catalyst and at least one of acetone, benzene, naphtha and xylene. Impregnated sheets may be advanced to the B-stage prior to stacking and subsequent lamination. Examples relate to glycidyl ethers of bisphenol A and epoxy novolac resins.
