Automatic temp. control system for electric resistance furnace of the type having its heating element on the outside of its furnace chamber, e.g. a muffle furnace comprising a silica tube with a "Nichrome" element wound on its outer wall. Essentially, the heating element is connected in series with a control wire of electrical resistance wire inside the furnace chamber, and thermal deflection of the control wire is used to operate the "on-off" switch of the element. The control brings the furnace rapidly up to set temp. without overshoot. Control is extremely precise and easily adjustable over a wide range of temperatures.
