A shade for a lamp is made of a number of similar laminar elements 11 having at two opposite lateral edges 23 hook-like projections 24, 25 and having in their other two opposite edges between these projections recesses 31, 32 for the suspension of the hook-like projections of adjacent elements, the elements being bent so that all the elements of a first row are each fastened by their two lateral edges which have hook-like projections to a supporting member, their recesses 31, 32, being so offset in relation to the hook-like projections that the adjacent row of similar elements are offset, and each further row also being similarly offset to form a three dimensional shade body. Various embodiments of basic laminar elements are described where the edges between the lateral edges are curved in the same or in opposite directions, or where the lateral edges are convergent. The elements for the supporting row of the shade may have eyelets to engage a supporting ring, Fig. 5 (not shown). The basic elements may be made of metal or various named plastics materials.
