Continuous filaments of a thermoplastic polymer have coils which render them suitable for use in bulked yarn. Such filaments have a substantially uniform high helical crimp made up of a plurality of substantially regular loops in which the ratio R/r is from about 1.1-1.5, especially 1.3-1.5, where R is the radius of curvature of the outside of the loop and r is the radius of curvature of the inside of the loop. Specified materials include isotactic polypropylene, polyacetal resins, poly-3-methylbutene and other polyolefins, e.g. poly-4-methyl pentene, and blends and copolymers thereof.
