A circular saw blade for sawing bones, fine fibred mesh, synthetic plastics material, non- ferrous metal or the like comprises saw teeth 2 having a projection height c of 0À3 to 4 mm. above the periphery of the saw blade, and a slot 4 in front of each tooth extending inwardly from the periphery for a length a of 3 to 15 mm. and a width b of 1 to 5 mm. For sawing fine bones the slot width b is from 1 to 2 mm. In another embodiment the inner ends of the slots open into apertures 8. The slots may extend radially or be inclined to the radius forwardly or backwardly. The face of the teeth may be perpendicular or oblique to the sides of the blade or have two oppositely inclined front surfaces 9, Fig. 6. The teeth may be hardened or have hard metal coating.
