1,155,053. Desensitized photographic silver halide materials. EASTMAN KODAK CO. Aug.25, 1966 [Aug. 25, 1965], No.38128/66. Heading G2C. Photographic silver halide is desensitized to visible radiation by the addition of a thiuram disulphide silver halide desensitizer and a substituted or unsubstituted phenazine which may have one or more benzene rings fused thereto and may be quaternized. The silver halide is used in X-ray materials and may be in emulsion or vacuum-deposited form and may be of the internal latent image type. The sensitivity to visible radiation may be further reduced by incorporating a dye in the emulsion or in a layer above the silver halide layer or by overcoating the latter with a low sensitivity silver halide emulsion such as a Lippmann emulsion or a silver iodide emulsion.
