摘要
Polyolefin textile materials are dyed by applying a water-insoluble dyestuff containing at least one fully substituted amide group. The dyes are preferably monoazo dyes but may also be from the disazo, anthraquinone, methine, azamethine, nitrodiphenylamine, quinphthalone, oxazine, dioxazine, azine, thiazine, triphenylmethane, tetrazaporphin or diphenylmethane series. Especially suitable are dyes of the formula D-(X-R)n when D is the colour-providing portion of the molecule, R is a lower alkyl, substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or aryl radical, n is preferably 1 but may be 2 or 3 and X is of the formula FORM:0960662/D1-D2/1 in which Z represents the atoms necessary to complete a diazine or triazine ring which may carry other substituents, R1 is a lower alkyl, substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl or aralhyl radical or, when X is FORM:0960662/D1-D2/2 R and R1 may together represent the atoms necessary to form a heterocyclic ring which may contain other hetero atoms. Preferably the (X-R) group contains 3-8 carbon atoms. The dyes may be applied from a solution in an organic solvent or, preferably from an aqueous dispersion which may contain an anionic dispersant, e.g. a sulphonated naphthalene-formaldehyde condensate, a cationic dispersant, e.g. cetyltrimethylammonium bromide or preferably a non-ionic dispersant, e.g. a fatty alcohol-ethylene oxide condensate, in a dyebath which may be alkaline. The dyebath may be heated to 65-100 DEG C. or 100-125 DEG C. at superatmospheric pressure. Examples of dyeing polypropylene yarn are given in which many dyes are specified.
