A device for the correlation of factors affecting optimum use of machine tools comprises upper and lower scale bearing drums 2 and 13 rotatable in unison by means of a knob 3 through gearing 4, 5 and 14. The upper drum is marked with a tabular scale of tool diameters, and the drum is rotated to register a predetermined value on this scale with the appropriate value of cutting speed marked, e.g. in metres per minute, on a fixed horizontal scale A, whereupon the corresponding value of rotational speed, also marked on the upper drum, appears at a window 10. Values of feed per revolution are marked by curves on the drum 13 and register with corresponding values of feed per minute on a fixed scale E at the rotational speed showing in the window 10. Cursors 8 and 17 aid in the correct reading of the scales.
