摘要
In the extraction of zinc from oxidized ore prepared by roasting zinc blende in a manner ensuring control of the grain size, the ore is mixed with coke and the reaction takes place in a blast furnace (see Group XII). The volatilized zinc is lead off by off-takes screened against the enry of the falling charge to a condenser and molten slag is tapped off at the base of the shaft, which base is cooled by a water jacket. The charge material is preheated, preferably to 800 DEG -900 DEG C, and preheated air is supplied through tuyeres at the bottom and towards the top of the furnace shaft. A typical charge comprises the following parts measured by weight: Oxidized zinc ore 100 parts, coke 80 parts, limestone 8 parts, sand 9 parts.
