[Class 36] A gas - tight seal in which electric conductors pass through vitreous material, such as is des cribed in the parent Specification, is modifiec by arranging discs 6, 61 at the end of the conductors 2, 21 to press against the disc 1 of molybdenum by pressure and not to be united to the disc 1 by soldering &c. The conductor 2 may be pressed by a spring during the formation of the seal which embeds the disc 1, and in making this seal in vacuo the melted quartz or the like is caused to embed at least the outer periphery of the discs 6, 61.
