[Classes 20 (i) and 20 (ii)] [Also in Group XXI] A bridge trestle, abutment, landing stage, pedestal or like framework includes vertical tubular legs which are adjustable in length by worm-operated screw means to adjust the height, from time to time for unevennesses of the ground or subsidences, the legs being formed of sections joined end to end by socketed junction boxes and the adjusting screws being secured to base-plates adapted to rest on the ground. The upper end of each-abutment member supports the. lower end of an adjusting screw 19 on which operates a worm nut 12 in a casing 11 fixed to an independent intermediate 'tube 1a which also carries an operating worm on a shaft 13, the adjusting screw being prevented from rotation by projections 21 on the two-part tube 1a engaging a slot 20 in the surface of the screw. A ball bearing 18 is interposed between the worm nut and the casing to take the thrust as the tubular upright is raised on the screw resting on the abutment member. The diagonal connectors 9 comprise two plain elements and two adjustable elements connected to the junction members and to each other by connector plates 47.
